We generally have 2-3 weeks of potential pick-up dates. You may have someone pick up your DVD for you. We’ve had a problem with families not picking up their DVD’s. In fact, I have 4 years of DVD’s that haven’t been picked up. If you forget to pick up your DVD, they are put into storage until the next scheduled pick-up date when you will be notified again. The next pick-up date is tentatively scheduled upon delivery of the DVD’s will be on December 3 and 5 from 4-6 pm.

5. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PRIVATE PIANO / VOCAL LESSONS / DANCE STUDIOS
I am very cautious when it comes to recommending voice lessons for children. The child’s voice is a developing instrument and it can be damaged and permanently ruined by poor teaching. A child’s developing voice should sound young and bell like. If you hear a child singing with force (belting) or scream singing, then they are probably receiving poor training. Preschool children are at the right age to discover rhythms and pitch. RYT offers a preschool theatre class to work on these skills. In early elementary school, after your child has mastered reading skills (around 2nd grade), I encourage piano lessons. In my opinion, this should take priority first over private voice lessons. Piano lessons will teach your child to read music, improve their rhythm skills, and learn some basic music theory. Get your child involved in a local community youth theatre, school or church choir during the elementary school years to continue developing pitch, rhythms, and develop performing skills. Most late elementary and junior high students are ready for voice lessons with required daily practicing. It is important to preserve the voice in the developing child. Improper singing and training can permanently damage the voice resulting in nodules. Currently, I am recommending only the following private teachers and dance studios in the Riverside area:
Private Piano Instruction *Susan McConnell, Riverside (951) 683-1228 *Rhona Hodgen, Riverside, (951) 688-6753 *Dr. Elvin Rodriguez, Riverside (951) 785-4239 Marvin Engstrom, Corona Arts Academy (951) 281-2823 http://www.coronaartsacademy.com/ *Anita Norskov Olsen, Loma Linda (909) 796-9730 (NOTE: *Denotes membership in the Music Teacher’s Association and offers participation in the Certificate of Merit program. http://www.mtac.org/programs/cm/index.shtml.
