REGISTRATION AND TICKETS

Audition Registration Fee: $20/per audition Event Tickets: $10 (for all ages)

AGE DIVISIONS (determined by age on the audition date)

EMERGING: 6 - 9 years JUNIOR: 10 - 13 years SENIOR: 14 - 18 years

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Performers must be residents of the Inland Empire in Riverside or San Bernardino County. Any student interested in the theatre arts (voice, dance, acting) may audition. Performers do not have to be involved in Riverside Youth Theatre or any Inland Empire theatre to participate. The Sweepstakes winner from the previous year is not eligible to participate.

AUDITIONS

Please provide an audition no longer than 4:30 minutes in length. Your audition will be disqualified if longer than 4:30 minutes. Make certain that music selections are family-friendly with no inappropriate language. You are expected to provide a CD’s for voice and dance auditions. No live accompaniment will be allowed. One small hand prop and a chair are allowed for auditions and performances, but no scenery props. Props to be used shall be listed on your audition form. No batons, knives, fire, smoke of smoke effects will be allowed on stage.

Riverside Youth Theatre will provide a wireless hand held microphone for use at the semi-final and final competitions.

Your audition can include any of the following theatre arts: vocal solo, vocal small group, dance solo, acting solo (dramatic reading, monologue, or comedy routine). You are required to perform the same piece demonstrated at your audition for the semi-finals and finals.

If a performer should decide to drop out of the Inland Empire Youth Theatre Competition for any reason, the entry fee paid will not be refunded.

SEMI-FINALS and FINALS

Performers will arrive 1 1/2 hours before each event and will be allowed a 1-minute microphone check. Arrive with hair & make-up finished. Contestants will remain dressed backstage or in the waiting area during the entire talent competition. Parents or Friends WILL NOT be allowed backstage or in the waiting area AT ANY TIME. Performers will be disqualified if their parents or friends are backstage or in the waiting area. Parents and Patrons will be allowed entry into the theater 15 minutes before each competition. No video taping or photography allowed. Water bottles will be provided to performers. No food will be allowed backstage.

TICKETS

Tickets will be available for $10 to purchase at the door 1 hour before each performance. Cash or checks payable to Riverside Youth Theatre are accepted.

JUDGING

Your performance will be judged on the following criteria:

Stage Presence 25% (Is the performer comfortable and commands the stage?)
Presentation 25% (Is this age appropriate for the performer? Is the costume complete? Was it creative?)
Talent 25% (Does the performer achieve or exceed the technical skills?)
Overall Artistic Impression 25% (Did the performance move the audience? Was the performance a complete package?).

AWARDS AND PRIZES

Audition and Semi-Final Winners will be announced on the theatre’s website at http://www.riversideyouththeatre.org/ and by e-mail.

The judging panel will award up to 100 points for each performance. Trophies will be awarded to the top three performers in each age category and the Sweepstakes winner. 1^st Place winners for each age group will receive $100 each. The highest scoring performer from all divisions will receive the Sweepstakes Award of $500. Any ties will be broken by the judges. The decision of the Judges will be final. Organizers reserve the right of final decision on any matters pertaining to the Inland Empire Youth Theatre Competition and not covered by the rules.
