At Riverside Children's Theater (RCT), our mission is to create quality artistic programming for the diverse Inland Empire community that features professional artists and emerging talent. We are dedicated to positively developing students from elementary school to high school graduation, and work to build a supportive network of families and community associations to promote our mission. We believe in the power of collaboration between students, teachers, student mentors, staff, community partners, funders, sponsors, and the Board of Trustees to achieve more together than apart. We value each other as students, parents, teachers, mentors, staff, community partners, donors, sponsors, and directors.
Participation in our productions is voluntary and limited to students currently enrolled in RCT's Saturday School. Students can earn a certificate (when applicable) or work towards an associate's degree to transfer (ADT) to a California State University or the University of California. Riverside Children's Theater does not unlawfully discriminate internally (in its administrative and programmatic operations) or externally (in the provision of services) on the basis of race, political orientation, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, ethnicity, descent, marital status, veteran status, or mental or physical disability. RCT offers classes, camps and training opportunities in the areas of theater, dance, music and video for all ages throughout the year. If you are interested in exploring other avenues of teaching in visual, performing and creative arts, RCT is the perfect place for you.
Since 1957, we have introduced thousands of children to the magical world of theater by participating in theater teaching and performing opportunities. The theater and music classes at the Riverside Theater for Kids are designed to provide performance opportunities and behind-the-scenes access to 26% professional educational shows at the Riverside Theater. These classes also help further develop students' skills in all areas of theater. At RCT we offer a variety of performance opportunities for theatre arts students. These include acting classes and workshops that focus on developing acting skills such as improvisation and scene study. We also offer musical theatre classes that focus on singing and dancing techniques.
Additionally we offer technical theatre classes that focus on set design and construction as well as lighting design. We also offer summer camps that provide an opportunity for students to explore their creativity through theatre arts. These camps are designed to help students develop their skills in acting, singing and dancing while having fun. We also offer special workshops throughout the year that focus on specific topics such as auditioning techniques or stage combat. At RCT we strive to provide our students with a variety of performance opportunities that will help them develop their skills in theatre arts. We believe that these experiences will help our students become more confident performers and better prepared for future opportunities.
